Come join us in seeing what we as Formula Student get up to! Join us in building our combustion vehicle and autonomous software stack that competes in IMechE's Formula Student competition!
Whether you're a motorsport enthusiast or not, we’re recruiting for all departments: Technical, Driverless, Infrastructure, Media & Operations, & Business & Sponsorships. No prior experience is required, but it does help! Come meet the team, sample what we do, and learn how you can get involved!
Technical
Get involved with Formula Student Team Napier's Technical team, where we design and build a race car!
- Chassis Modeling: Building a miniature chassis model
- Electrical Wiring Tasks: Get hands-on with electrical systems used on the car.
- Reverse Engineering Problems: Take real components from the car, investigate how they work, and figure out how they were designed and manufactured.
Driverless
Get involved with Formula Student Team Napier's Driverless team, where we design and build an autonomous system for a self driving race car:
- Simulation: Working with our simulators to fine-tune the car in a lap-time challenge.
- System Design
- Coding: Coding challenges working with ROS for perception, path-planning and vehicle control
Infrastructure
Do you want to get practical experience with networking, virtualisation and API integrations amongst a wide variety of tasks? You should come and check out the Infrastructure Department of Formula Student Team Napier!

Media & Operations
Do you enjoy creating content, graphic design and planning socials & events well this department could be the one for you! 🎉
Come and try some of the stuff we will get up to this year including;
- Media: Creating posts for our social media accounts
- Design: Working on merch designs for the team to show off around campus, Edinburgh and Silverstone
- Planning: Plan your very own social for the team to go along to and enjoy.

Business & Sponsorships
Are you interested in working on pitching and liaising skills? Want to pad out your CV? Join Business & Sponsorships!
Come along to one of our taster sessions to:
- Sponsorships: Learn more about our sponsorship program and business plan presentations.
- Pitching: Present yourself! Get the opportunity to present a small powerpoint based upon yourself or something that interests you.
- Product: Get hands on experience building a product and marketing it!
Event policies
Do I need a membership to attend?
Nope! Each individual can attend up to two sessions for free before purchasing a membership to participate in Formula Student.
If I have a question, who should I contact?
A member of the team will be more than happy to answer any questions and/ or concerns before visiting. If you have any questions please find us on the folllowing!

What if I have no experience?
That's entirely fine! We all start somewhere, having some surface level knowledge will propell you farther than you think, our team leads would love to get onboard people dedicated to learning - so don't knock yourself down before you give it a shot!
If I attend the session, do I have to stay at the same department?
Nope! You're more than welcome to trial all our departments, we try to be as inclusive as possible so we encourage the participation in more than one for interdepartment interactions.
If you feel like you only have time for one department during a taster session then please, by all means, check out another either on the Thursday or the following week.
